Any amateur or professional, French or foreigner can compete.
Unisex couples are welcome. The participation fees are set at € 100 per registered person.
The objective of this championship is to promote and disseminate Argentine tango in its dance dimension to the general public..
ORGANISATION
The association Tango en Seine is at the origin of the organization, programming, and the achievement of the French championship 2018. The person in charge will ensure compliance with the provisions of these regulations..
The organization is not responsible for delays or other unforeseen events that may arise at the time of the competition.
All championship participants agree to attend events planned by the organization - any radio or television interviews.
The organization has the power to regulate the order of participants' services and their terms, such as the number of passages of each pair.
All participants must be on site at the times specified in the invitation..
People belonging to the organization will not be able to take the competition.
The organization uses as a means of communication the website of the association Tango en Seine https://www.tangoenseine.fr/ and any other means of dissemination such as leaflets and electronic mail.
INSCRIPTION
Registration and participation in the championship is effective after payment of the fee of € 100 per person for all categories.. Interested parties can register until the opening of the competition. Registration can be done online on the https site://www.tangoenseine.fr/ or directly from the manager Patrice CHAINET at 06 19 45 21 03.
Couples can be of any nationality and participants must be between the ages of 18 at least years old on the day of the competition.
All participants must confirm their registration after acceptance by the organization by attaching a valid ID.
Any invalid registration will be subject to disqualification.
CHAMPIONSHIP
The championship will take place in 3 steps on 1 day.
1time step : The classification
All registrants in the specified category will participate in the classification. The couples with the highest number of points will participate in the semi-final or final.
2th step : The semi-final
The couples who obtained between the 1time and the 8th place can go to the final. The jury may decide to increase the number of participants in the final if it judges that the level of participants is sufficient.
3th step : The final
The selected couples of the semi-final will participate.
Tango Salón participants will dance 3 recorded themes chosen by the organization.
The organization is authorized to eliminate from the competition participants who :
-do not comply with the provisions of these regulations
-which would show during the event, any political sign, religious or other sign that would alter the course of the competition.
JURY
The Jury is chosen by the organization. Participants accept it as soon as they register. Each performance will be the subject of a point count by each member of the jury in a scale of 1 at 10 according to the parameters described below. From the accounts obtained, an average will be calculated on the totality of the points divided by the number of members of the jury.
The jury will select the winning couple for each category. In the event of a tie, couples will have to dance the number of themes necessary until the jury chooses the winning couple.
In the TANGO DE PISTA category, each member of the jury will be based on 4 evaluation criteria :
1 Abrazo and walking quality
2 Tango technique
3 Improvisation and space management
4 Rhythm and interpretation
EVALUATION PARAMETERS
For all styles, dress and presence will be taken into account in the evaluation parameters.
Couples can be made up of a man and a woman, two men or two women.
1/ TRACK TANGO
Definition :
Improvised performance and interpretation of social tango.
Once formed, the couple must not separate during the duration of the musical theme. This means that he will not have to break the abrazo, considered as the position of the tango. The position of the abrazo is correct when it is constantly contained by both partners, it being understood that for specific figures only and on an ad hoc basis, the abrazo can be elastic. All movements must be carried out in the space of the abrazo determined by the couple.
The jury will take into account the musicality and style of walking, fundamentals for qualification.
Figures of popular use can be made, and comprised them swept, balconies in the sun, enrosques ; etc.
Are totally excluded the ganchos, the jumps, worn or other figures specific to Stage Tango. The couples will have to move like at the ball, counterclockwise without obstructing traffic.
No participant may lift their legs beyond the knee line.
2/ Stage tango
Participants will be able to express their point of view on Argentine tango dance.
This means that couples will be allowed to make movements, figures and applications that are not directly related to traditional tango dance.
But the choreography must include traditional elements of tango: eight, tours, market, boleos, hooks and "l’abrazo milonguero".
Couples will be able to break the abrazo and use techniques from other dance disciplines, as long as it is justified to enrich the performances of the dancers.
Aerial turns and movements of other dance disciplines should not be excessive. This means that they should not exceed one third of the overall performance. The couple must include movement sequences over the entire area of the stage.
The quality of the outfits may be taken into account during the judgment rendered by the jury..
In the event of a technical problem, the jury will assess the rehearsal of the choreography at the end of the allocated time slot.
If there is a problem with the choreography, the couple will decide whether or not to continue the dance and the jury will evaluate the manner and the grace with which they will solve the difficulties; but the couple will not be allowed to repeat the performance.
The tango selected by the competitors cannot exceed more than four (4) minutes.
PRICE
The organization will award a cup to the winning couple.
Financial rewards will be paid according to this scale :
The rewards are for a total amount of 3 000€ for the winning couple of the TANGO DE PISTA final with the following count : 1 500 for each dancer in the couple.
For the Tango Escenario category the reward will be 1 000€
Or 500 € for each dancer.
At the end of the trials the title of French Tango Champion will be awarded in the 2 Tango de Pista and Tango Escenario categories, only to competitors who are the first of the competitors of French nationality or to residents who have been in France for more than one year. These distinctions do not include financial rewards.
Many prizes will be offered by the sponsors for couples who have participated in the competition without reaching first place.
